Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

credit

I disputed a debt. The collection agency threatened to sue if not received by a certain date. I paid the entire debt before the date due. They did not sue but filed a lein against me after my check cleared my bank. I called and asked why it was filed. They said ''It was filed in error''They did send papers to show the lein was released. I was told the lein can not be removed once filed- even if in error. I can not get a mortgage because this was so recently placed on my file. I have been denied many opportunities because of this ''error''. The rest of my credit history is good but I am screwed for the next few years. Do I have any legal remedies?

Re: credit

Generally, this may be deemed a violation of debt collection practices. More specific facts would be required to provide a clear direction to proceed with. If my law firm can assist you with this legal issue or any other legal matter, please contact my legal assistant Jennifer ([email protected]).
