Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Harassing bill collectors

Is it legal for my ex-husband's bill collectors to call me? We have been divorced for 12 yrs. His bill collectors call my house looking for him and his wife. Even after telling them that he doesn't live here nor has he ever lived here, they continue to call. I have even had one person ask me if we had kids together and if I receive child support. I don't feel that this is legal for them to ask. His bills are not my problem. How do I get them to stop calling me?

Re: Harassing bill collectors

Tell them, in no uncertain terms, that they are in clear violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and to stop calling you. Follow up with a letter stating the same, and send a copy to the Federal Trade Commission.
