Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Help with moving company rip off

A moving company provided a quote for moving a portion of my property to a temporary apartment and storing the balance, pending my impending relocation. Arrived, conducted inventory of items, did not indicate that there would be a change in costs, moved items, then presented a bill for twice the amount quoted. Fast forward--company would not allow me to pay storage fees while move overcharges were being investigated by TxDOT--assessed fees, penalties; TxDOT filed suit against company because they were illegally operating and had prior complaints. Company filed bankruptcy, planning to auction my property unless I pay the overcharge and late fees and penalties they assessed during investigation. I would like to get an injunction to prevent this to give Attorney General's office time to investigate, but attorney fees can very easily exceed amount involved.

Unfortunately, your best move is to pay the fees, recover your goods, then sue them to recover the money. That suit would probably be an adversary action in bankruptcy.
