Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Received judgement letter from Citibank regarding credit card balance

Received letter from Citibank receiving a judgement and demand for payment of credit card balance owed to them.

They have also added items that were removed due to fraud back on to the balance.

I do not have the funds nor do I have the funds for expensive legal help.

What could be my options? What can they really do?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Received judgement letter from Citibank regarding credit card balance

If you dispute some of the charges, by all means write to them and tell them that you dispute those certain specific charges. Insofar as a judgment is concerned, first they have to sue you.

An attorney will contact you before suit is filed. That opens the door to try and negotiate a payout if you can't pay the balance at once.

If you are sued and they get a judgment against you, they can garnishee your bank account or savings account. They can't garnishee wages, force sale of your homestead, seize your vehicles (one allowed per family member), take your household and kitchen equipment, etc. They may not really be aware of that, but a local attorney sure would be.
