What do you mean what happens? If the police take a report, they are supposed to investigate. If they find sufficient evidence that the accused did something illegal, then they prepare a report and present it to the prosecutor who decides whether or not they will accept charges. If they accept charges, the person is arrested and brought to court to face the charges. You may have to testify if the person does not work out the case.

If the police do not find evidence, then the case is dropped. If the prosecutor rejects charges, then there may be more investigation or the case is dropped. If charges are accepted and the person goes to court, the trial court prosecutor can decide to continue the charges or drop them.
