Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

My house was broken into a year and a half ago. Nothing was stolen, but all my possesions were thrown around and there was also about $3000.00 damage to my car. (Our insurance covered most the damage to the car.) I just now found out exactly who it was that did it. Is it to late to doing anything about it? If not what all can I do?

I assume a police report was made, therefore you need to notify the police who did the crime.

The statute of limitations has not expired and whoever did the crime can still be prosecuted.

I assume, by the context of the questions, that you made a claim to your insurance company, as collecting on your homeowners insurance would have no bearing on whether they knew who committed the crime.

If the person is prosecuted you may be able to obtain restitution for the amount of money you did not collect.

You may be able to collect this money from Crime Victims in Austin. I do not know if they have a time limit.

I would notify you that I have not researched this answer. In cases, like this, I always recommend that all persons obtain a second legal opinion.
