Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
theft by check
if i send a person a check they cash the check and send me the money back and the check bounces and they owe the bank but they contact the police what charge is that and do i have a grace period to pay the money back to the victim before i can be charged with a crime?

In order to convict you, they will have to prove that you did not have sufficient funds in the account when you wrote the bad check on the account. Chagre would be theft by check. I suggest paying the vicitm back since that suggests that you did not know that the check would bounce.
