Re: from PA to Tx

You asked about running away at 17.

Unfortunately this is not the response you want. It will be unlawful for you to run away from home at 17. By law your parents will be required report you as missing and any contact with the authorities will 1) result in your detention and return home, and 2) the probable arrest and incarceration (prison) of your boyfriend. By statutory law and by moral law your boyfriend is a predator.

More important is the relationship with the boyfriend. It is illegal for a person more than 2 years older than a minor to have an intimate relationship with a minor. That means any guy you are dating that is older than 18 (or 19 after your birthday) is breaking the law simply by kissing you (and the farther it goes the longer he will spend in prison).

And here's where I sound like your mom. As mature as you think you are you must consider how immature a man must be to have an illegal relationship with a girl that is so much younger than he. I can't even begin to describe the differences in age that you won't comprehend until you are older. Simply put, the man-child has something seriously wrong with him to be involved with a girl your age. And just to make things more difficult, I'm more than twice your age, and have dated women older and younger than myself by more than 10 years and notice a substantial difference. But when the younger person is in their late twenties they have the maturity and life experience to make that decision well informed.

Finally, the heartbreaker, a 25 year-old guy is not going to wait around for one month let alone five for a girl 1,500 miles away. I'm afraid that the relationship is doomed and if you don't live your life you will bound for disappointment in March.

Finally, be serious. Relationships have less than a 20% chance of working out. You need to finish school and get training after school. I can point to too many women who sidetracked their dreams and desires only to find themselves in a position that they regret years later.

I'd be happy to speak with you on the phone and refer you to some resources to discuss this further. No get back to the books, make some friends and date guys your own age.
