Abandonment issues

My daughter became pregnant over 6 years ago. At that time the supposed father knew about the pregnancy & later the birth but would not take any responsibility. His name is not included on the birth certificate. After a 6 year absence (part of which he was in jail for assault & drug charges), he has contacted us about visitation. Legally, where does she stand. Is it too late to terminate his rights?

One of the grounds for termination of the parent child relationship is abandonement. There is a whole list of grounds that can be used in a suit terminating the rights of the parent. Most likely you will need an attorney.
