what can i do

my common law wife wants me to leave our home now.i really need to stay until the end of the month till i am more financally able to move.all of my mail including my check from my job comes to this adress.i have lived here for 4 years.what are my rights?can she change the locks if i go to work?

If you are in fact common law married, then you have the same rights that she does, unless and until a judge says otherwise. she has no right to lock you out without a court order, but if she does, then you have the right to break back into your own house, and change the locks again. Get in touch a lawyer today to start the divorce process in order to protect yourself.

Couples separating keep locksmiths in business.

I would also suggest that you call the police in your neighborhood and talk to someone. If the address is on your driver's license, they normally don't arrest you for breaking into your own home.

However, if there is a physical altercation, you can be arrested for domestic violence.
