Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Custody Rights

Granddaughter had baby out of wedlock, child is presently 1 week old, breastfeeding.

She has allowed father's side to visit baby at her home at anytime, and she has not allowed anyone to take baby from the home but once.

Father and family keeps insisting that she live with father or marry him. She does not want to, she wants to finish high school and go to college.

Went to father's dads house for dinner Saturday, and father kept insisting that she go to his apartment, she refused. When they arrive at her house, while inside the father grabbed the baby and said he was taking her. Stepfather intervened and father called police who ask him to leave. Came back the next day with his mom and a policeman and asked to see the baby, which he and mom did.

They keep insisting that the baby be allowed to go with them and other family members for a few hours. Mother thinks baby is too young and wants to wait a while before doing that. She has not let the baby leave with anyone yet.

Father has past problems with domestic abuse issues and keeping telling mother that his grandfather was sheriff of Greenville, which is county where issue will be settle.

What can we expect to happen in this case. We are all very upset?

Re: Custody Rights

You need to start a Suit Affecting the Parent Child Relationship. It sounds like you need a temporary restraining order to prevent inteference with the baby. You should get a lwyer and do this ASAP.
