Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My divorce was granted on 04/09/09, but I do not have a final divorce decree and my attorney will not return my calls. I am also not receiving the court ordered health insurance or child support. In the paperwork I have it states that i can not move outside the connecting counties to where my ex lives and I want to move out of state with my children. What am I supposed to do?

To determine if a final decree has been entered in your case, contact the district clerk in your county. If a decree has been signed and entered, they should be able to tell you how to get a copy. Some counties provide a free copy to each party. Others require payment.

Regarding your lawyer, instead of calling, send letters by certified mail. These should get his or her attention. Be sure to mention that you want to move out of state. This will require a motion to modify the decree, (meaning more legal fees) and should draw attention.
