Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am getting a divorce in Texas. Our community assets are about 138,000. This does not include a money market account in both names of 106,000 in value. My husband inherited a trust fund worth 2.1. He claims the community owes his separate property 84,000. He wants the home all contents and primary residence of the children in the home. He is offering me 20,000, my retirement account of 100,000 to remain mine. The trust interest earned to remain his. Does this sound like a fair offer?

No, that's not the way to go about handling this matter. You'll need to do sworn inventories of the assets with documentation of the assets. Then he will need to trace and show you precisely where this reimbursement claim comes from. All of the assets will need to be carefully reviewed and set up in a spreadsheet to make sure it's a fair deal for you. In other words, don't just eyeball it or rely on his word. Is you want to discuss further, give me a call. 817-877-3933. Nancy M. Perry
