Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

when we got divorced, an uncontested divorce, we wrote on the divorce paper that if i sell the house i would split the profits. well after 10 years of living here alone i want to sell . well i am getting over what i paid but after remodeling and etc what i am getting really isnt profit, is it? and if it were to stand in court dont i get to determine if anything, what the profit amount should be? the title company is the one asking about the write in on the divorce and its holding up my sell

Your question can only be answered by the language of your divorce decree. The decree should be very specific about the terms, conditions and consequences of the sale and distribution of proceeds. If it is not, it may require a clarification of the orders. If you are having trouble understanding the language of the terms, please consult with an attorney to determine what options you have.
