Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My mother-in-law is worth millions. My wife has been dangling the "D" word lately. I need to stay in the marriage until her mother passes away to receive any of that fortune, correct?

Any inheritance/bequest that your wife receives from her mother is SEPARATE property, and it is not divided in a divorce.

If you are expecting to receive something in the mother-in-law's will, then it won't be affected by marriage or divorce.
