paternity

i would like to know where to start to establish paternity for my daughter. she is now 10 and i have never approached her father for child support or anything. she now would like to know more about him. there were two men in my life at that time and i am unsure of where to begin

Many people go through the attorney general. Others retain a private attorney. I am a private attorney http://www.reasonable-doubt.com It helps immensely if you have the name and current locations for the two men who could be the biological father of the child. The procedure is to file a suit to establish paternity and conduct blood tests to determine who is the father. If one is a match, then orders are established for the child and for child support, with a retroactive child support in the discretion of the court. With the attorney general, if retroactive child support is ordered, I see large amounts of that money often beeing assigned to the government instead of to the mother...

You can request that a court order paternity testing in a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship. I suggest you contact an attorney in your area to discuss this type of action.
