Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Property after Divorce

I am getting married soon to a man who has been divorced 18 yrs. When he divorced he was awarded his home. She moved out and didn't want the home. She found out we we were dating and now wants the home. We called the mortgage company, he is the sole owner. She claims she has the deed of trust and 2 lawyers working on getting the home or forcing sale of home.

My question is does she have legal recourse to get the home after 18 yrs. of being divorced

Re: Property after Divorce

She is free to file a lawsuit against you.

You must defend against it.

If he was awarded it in the Final Decree of Divorce, you will need a cert. copy of the legal document.

If you get served, I urge you to retain the services of an attorney immediately.

Hopefully you will be able to get it thrown out of court.

PS - It is my opinion that she's just "jerking your chain".
