Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I received a letter today stating I have to go to a child support review meeting mediation. I am cofused by this because my ex and mine divorce papers state that he agreed that no child support is do from me and that he would carry the Health insurance for our daughter. She is a Junior in high school and has been with him since she was 12, with no cild support. I pay for things as she needs them. Is this just a standard form that is sent to non-custodial parents? Or does this mean that he has filed to receive child support now? Please help.

Unknown. If the child has received any sort of state or federal funds then the TX A G is probably the one that asked for this to get money to repay the TX taxpayers.

Also, even though the current court order states xxxxx it can be modified once a year. It appears that she has been with him for over 4 years so he can modify and ask for child support. He will get it. Plus you should be paying the child's medical insurance premium and 50% of all uninsured medical expenses.

Hopefully you have proof (receipts) of the money you have spent on her to show that you have been financially supporting her.

Your child support will be 20% of your net resources based on a TX formula. There are websites with TX child support calculators to give you a ball-park figure.

Hire an attorney immediately. I would not set foot in there without one -- I just mediated a case and the man was overpaying $300 a month due to a typo & his ex knew it all along & laughed when I mentioned it to her. Have an attorney at your side at the mediation meeting.

Or, you never know what will happen.
