Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I got served papers because my ex is trying to get custody of my daughter. I am so afraid he will win. Is there a way to get an appointed lawyer? I have no money for a lawyer. But I know I can't go in there without one and expect to win. He can't get custody unless he proves me an unfit mother right?

The court will not appoint a lawyer. If you truly can not find a lawyer (many take payment plans) (there are many agencies with resources to help); then you better get to the courthouse library asap to prepare and file an answer. There is a clock running on the lawsuit, and you have to file a response within the deadline.
