Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My wife has decided we will be divorcing. I'm against this but there seems little chance for reconciliation. I care nothing for any money or possessions we have. The children though I am worried for. My wife assumes she will be taking the kids and moving over 100 miles back to Dallas. She will fight for them, I'm trying to find out what my chances and option are if I pursue custody of my daughter. There are 2 children involved, my wife's son age 15 from her first marriage, whom I never legally adopted, and our daughter together age 7. She says the courts will not split them up so I can't Even try. Is that true? Also I worry in the sense that my wife is emotionally/verbally abusive, an irresponsible person, an atrocious role model. I'm sure many people in my place try to demonize their soon to be ex so I'm trying to find out if/how to perhaps get court ordered psych evals for her and/ or the children to try and bring these things to light. I plan on seeing a lawyer, but I would like at least a little knowledge/advice on the subject first. Thank you in advance for any help.

Since you never legally adopted the boy, you have no right to custody of him. That issue is between his biological father and mother. As to your daughter, you are entitled to visitation rights. All distance does is affect the days when visitation occurs. Get a family law attorney and stop listening to your wife.
