Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

debt advice

I want to know what steps I should be taking to recover a debt of $900 owed to me. On Feb. 14, 1998 I posted $1000 bond to get a friend out of jail in Williamson County, Texas. He has to date (Nov. 1998) repaid only $100. Since that time I have moved to Massachusetts and we have not spoken since August. Before I left he rarely returned calls. Since August I have written letters inquiring about the debt and have received no response. Mainly I am concerned about losing the ability to recover the debt as time passes. What steps should I be taking? I want to avoid court, but also want to recover the money.

Re: debt advice

You should sue the friend in Texas for your money. Small claims court should be available for a $900

debt.
