Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Personal Property Rights

I recently moved out of a girlfriends house that I lived in for 2 months. She won't give me my property back, such as couches and tv among other items. She claims I owe her money for staying their, but I have had my direct deposit into her account and she used a lot of it for herself. How can I go about getting my property back?

Re: Personal Property Rights

1. Make written demand for the return of your property. Be specific as to the identity of the property and the cost, and demand either the property or its value. That goes by certified mail. Give her ten days to do either.

If she doesn't return the property or pay the value within ten days of receiving the letter,

you can

2. Sue her for possession of the property in Justice Court (so long as the value all told is under $5,000), or sue her for just the money in Small Claims.
