Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

I'm applying for removal of conditional green card and submitting all my paper work by the end of this month and the process takes upto six months so what I've heard as it happened to my friend. I'm planning to travel in the month of February 2015 to India for three weeks for medical issues? I'm sure they will send me an extension for green card document, can I use that document to travel? I'm not sure if I can travel or not. Do I need to apply for a reentry permit or something.? I'm confused

You can make an Infopass appointment through the USCIS website, which will allow you to go to the local USCIS in your area & obtain an I-551 stamp. You will not need a re-entry permit if you will be gone less than 6 months.
