If each trip outside the U.S. was less than six months, you should be fine. If more than six months, you should have gotten a re-entry permit first. If you are outside the U.S. now, and have been gone more than six months, then Customs & Border Protection could deny your entry into the U.S.

You cannot file for citizenship unless you have lived in the U.S. for 2 1/2 out of the past 5 years, & have lived in the State where the application is filed for the three months preceding it. Furthermore, you cannot leave the U.S. once you file.
