Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

Dog bite on 2 persons. Animal control arrived next day dogs were in custody of animal control. Dogs were euthanized. No further action was taken by police. Claimant attempting to collect/file claim from property home insurance. At the moment only fire Hazard insurance is on the property. What legal options do I have? Or any other civil litigation?

They should have $100,000 in liability coverage. However, insurance company still proceed on the basis that every dog gets a free bite before liability can attach. There are a lot of sources for information on dangerous dogs. There are 5 that are supposedly dangerous per se. However, most dogs are crossbreeds and therefore it is hard to determine. You need statements from the neighbors, the children that came to the house that were friends of the children in the house, the name of the vet, shot records. A lot of investigation. Just because a dog bit somebody does not mean the owner is liable.You will need a plastic surgeon for the cost of revising the scars as well as the doctor who prepared the initial wounds.. Drs. usually charge $750 per report to discuss their treatment.
