Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Texas

hi there, im trying to find out if i may have a case and who i would have the case against. i had an accident in my home ( my own fault) when i went to the hospital they took xrays of my ankle and told me i had no broken bones but i had torn my achilles tendon and would need to have and mri done as well as surgery to fix the problem. i was given the name of a few orthopedic doctors and told to contact them. The accident happened just a few days before my insurance at work became active so i was a self pay patient. when i called all of the doctors on the list they all wanted several hundred dollars to see me as well as 500 to 1500 to do the mri. i tried to apply for medicaid and county medical assistance so i could be seen. i was denied because i was not unemployed. it took me 4 weeks to come up with enough money to finally get into another doctor, at this time he took more xrays and told me that my ankle was broken and put me into a cast for 4 weeks. the cost for a broken bone and a cast is much cheaper then an mri and surgery, i lost two months worth of work for something that could have only been a month had the hospital diagnosed me and casted me the day i went to the hospital. i also had extreme pain during this time which could have also ended sooner had a cast been applied. i am a single parent and have to work hard to pay my bills and i fell behind on everything and have not been able to catch up, (i do understand that i would have lost at least a month of pay, but that is better then two). i am starting to receive letters from an attorneys office telling me they are going to take me to court for a judgment if i do not pay the medical bills, i do not feel i should have to pay them. thank you for any answers.

when did this occur? did the doctor who put you in the cast tell you there was no issue with your tendon and tell you why?
