Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Lien on My Mobile Home for Lot Rent

I purchased Reposessed Mobile Home from Conseco Finance in April 2003, the home was already set up in a mobile park

and I rented the lot it was on, after renting the lot and purchasing the home, I was informed by the Mobile Park owners, that they had filed a lien on the home in December of 2002, for a little over $900.00. Conseco did not give me a title, they said they did not have it, and I would have to file for a serch of lost title., which I have not

done yet because of this controversy, The Park owners have

pestered me to try and get Conseco to pay them, and said they are going to sue, if they do not get there money.

They have hinted that they will sue me for the back rent.

I never signed anything stating that I would be responsible for this back rent, and was unaware of it until

after the sale and rental of lot.

Any Advice Appreciated

If Conseco really has title, it is very simple for them to obtain a duplicate title. The situation smells a little fishy. Before you invest too much money or expose yourself to liability, I would contact an attorney. You could also tell Conseco you are going to contact an attorney unless they pay the back rent and give you clear title to your home.
