Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

My question is this. I own a 223 semi automatic rifle that I gave to my dad to hold because I lived in a apartment complex that had had previous break in's and did not want my gun stolen.

The cost me $950.00 and is registered to me.

Now I want my gun back and my dad will not give it to me. He decided that I owed him money and until the money was paid back he would keep my gun.

I do owe him money but this what not part of the deal.

I do not get along with my parents and they do not like me much either and I feel they are doing this on purpose to anger me so I might forcefully try and take my gun back if I go in there home.

My dad is crazy with a bad temper. I think he is trying to set me up to get me in trouble.

I don't want any trouble, just my gun back. he also has my 22 caliber rifle that my grandfather gave me.

What are my option here that are peaceful.

I did not sing any paper saying I gave my gun for collateral. It's his word against mine.

But I know my mother will lie and say there was a verbal agreement and take my dad's side.

My parents think I owe them every penny back that they spent on me to raise from a baby, they are nut's.

That's how they think anyway.

I don't want this to go to some small claims court. Can I just call the police and have them meet me at my parents house and show them my receipt for the gun and make him give it back.

This was one big mistake I made giving it to him in the first place.

My dad is the most complicated person and just makes things up.

I just want my guns back.

Any advice.

Dan

You have to sue your Dad. He's a jerk, and he deserves it. He betrayed your trust. You need to teach him not to do bad stuff; actions have consequences.

As for having the police meet you somewhere to help you with this problem ... they will say "no."
