Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Rommates, does this apply to them if not on lease??

I had a roommate about 2 mos. ago. I asked him to pay half of the rent 200.00 a mo. He has gotten a lawyer to insist on my paying it back to him (1 mo rent = 200.00) He had a dog at my apartment and it did alot of damage to the window sill and the carpet. I had to pay the pet deposit of 200.00. Should I pay him back or keep going with this situation?

As I understand your factual situation, you had an oral sublease with roommate. Since it was for less than 1 year, it is enforceable. Based upon what you have said in your question, I don't think you have any obligation to refund the rent and you may also have additional claims for the damages caused by the roommate.
