Legal Question in Social Security Law in Texas

benfits for dependants

Non custodial parent is over 20,000 dollars behind in court ordered child support. Same is on social security disability. SS says children cannot receive benefits because not enough has been paid in. I thought benefits for children is automatic when a parent is disabled.

Sounds like he is getting SSI which is different than Soc. Sec. Disability because you have to qualify for SSD with enough quarters paid in. But even if he is getting SSI, his child should still get a payment. Either he didn't tell SS that he had a child or something else is wrong. I can get 1/2 of his SS check for back payments.
