Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Turkey

Debts of relatives

Hi there,

My mother has debts that cannot be paid as a result of her condition. If I happen to go to Turkey and when leaving the country, could the police stop me from leaving the country as a result of these debts from my mother?

Thank you,

Kanat

Re: Debts of relatives

The debts are personal according the Turkish Code of Obligations. No one could be held responsible for an other's debt just because of his family relations.

Also as you might not know,Turkey is a Republic and the government doesn't arrest anyone just because he has credit card debts.

So even your mother can have a safe visit to Turkey anytime.Enjoy yours.
