Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Utah

My mom went to my daughters school to pay 100$ on her school fees and the staff talked to my mom about two checks that i wrote bouncing and that i needed to get with the collection agency and take care of them. Can the school staff legally tell anybody that walks in (they don't know my mom personnally. It could have been my daughters father) my financial problems?

If you're allowing your mother to go in and pay your child's school fees, you're probably consenting to the school disclosing the status of the account.
