Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah

I am being harassed by my father in law. My fianc�e went with them so she can go on vacation, and they have took her phone and instructed everyone not to let her use a phone or computer. The thing is that my fianc�e is 18 and she very afraid of her dad, he has been calling me telling me that his going to kill me and my family. I have call the police, but they won't help. I have video and audio proof of whats happening and have been recorded the times he has called. He is a ex drug addict and he has guns and even live grenades. I have witnesses willing to say that he is capable do doing and hes very dangerous. I have talk to my fianc�es cousin and she is going to go get her, because she knows that she doesn't want to be there. I know when he finds out hes going to go insane and do something. Please I need help and I don't know what to do. I am located in Utah and live 4 hours away from her dad and she was living with me. The cops said that it's not a big deal because of the distance, but I know him very well and hes known to do crazy things. What can I do? I need to get him away when my fianc�e comes back and need him to leave us alone.

You can go to the court and request a protective order. However, that is only a court order, it can only be enforced at the time he is violating it.
