Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

I have a property under contract to purchase, but I'm not going to be able to close by the dead line, how do I get a real estate purchase extension?

If you have a realtor you can ask him/her to prepare a written extension for you to present to the seller/seller's agent.

You might look to your sales contract to see if there are any terms applicable to your situation. If there are no such terms and you do not have representation you will need to prepare a written document requesting an extension of the closing date (and any other relevant dates already agreed to) to an agreed, specific date. The seller will also need to agree to the extension date and sign the agreement.

You can down load a form from the Ut Dep of Real Estate. Both seller and buyer must sign an date. Keep copies.
