Legal Question in Personal Injury in Vermont

Hurt on Public Sidewalk

I was walking home from the Mobile down the block in sandles, and all of a sudden I tripped, caught myself, but there is a huge chunk of skin taken out of the sole of my foot. I went back the enxt day (it was 2am at the time and I was more worried about getting home) to find I had tripped on rebarb sticking out of the sidewalk ina hook like fashion. Is there anyone to be held liable for that? What should I do? I had me tetnis shot about 2 years ago, so I havn't been tot he hospital, I cleaned the wound and it look bad, and hurts a bit, but nothing warranting hospitalization. I have trouble putting weight on it, but I get around...

Don't know. You'd have to investigate who has the responsiblity for maintenance at the location. Then if that entity or person knew or should have known of the dangerous condition, when, and if they negligently failed to do something about it. The will defend by claiming contributory negligence if you sue, asking, why didn't you look where you were going?

Then your injury is not severe, so that this is probably a small claims case if anything at all.
