Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

I bought a used dryer from a company and they came to install it. Apparently the outlet in my house was not the correct type of outlet but instead of telling me so that I could get it fixed, the installer bent the prongs on the dryer cord to fit. The dryer has broken due to blown fuses and I had to buy a new dryer from Home Depot. Apparently what the previous installer did is a major fire hazard and the reason why my dryer broke in the first place. They could have burned my house down, I had to put out money for a new appliance because their faulty workmanship broke the original one. Not only that but I have been without a dryer for weeks now. Do I have a case?

Yes, perhaps, if you can prove by a preponderance of the evidence

that the faulty installation workmanship involving this used dryer

was in fact responsible for the dryer's breakdown rather than some other cause.

(But, FYI, that is not at all clear to me that such is actually the case.)
