Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

My mother opened a credit card In my name when I was 18 and it is now in collections without my acknowledgement. I really dont want to press charges but what are my options here in this matter. Thank you!

Well, how about starting with a demand to mom that she pay up. However, if that proves

unavailing, then you could write a letter to this credit card company and its collection agent

that this account was opened by your mother in your name and without your

agreement or knowledge and that you made none of these charges and that you therefore reject any responsibility for those that have accumulated on this now delinquent account.
