Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I haven't been able to pay my creditors for about a year now. I have talked to them many time's explaining to them I have been in and out of the hospital because of illness and would not be able to pay them. I have now received a message on my phone saying I have a civil claim against me and myself, spouse or lawyer needs to contact them for a statement. I'm not sure what to do now. Also, I reside in Va but opened up all my credit cards in Florida when I lived there. I'm not sure if that makes a difference in anything or not.

You are not required to respond to this notice for a "statement", but if a civil

case has been filed against you in the local court, and you fail to defend

yourself against the claim, then you will likely face a default judgment

being entered against you by this local court.

I agree, doing nothing is about the worst thing you could do. You should consider consulting an experienced consumer rights attorney.
