Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I haven't payed three months on my car payment. I couldn't afford it, family member past, bills piled up and went out of country. Just got a debt warrant. Am I able to handle this without going to court or do I still have to go to court? I'm okay with paying my normal monthly payments I just have to catch up on the last 3 months. What are my options? Can I go to jail or are they going to make be pay the reminder of my loan all at once?

You can contact them and see if they will agree to some sort of monthly payments, but in general by the time it gets to this point the creditor has accelerated the loan and declared it all due. You will not go to jail (provided you obey court orders), but if you don't either resolve this they will likely get a judgment and be able to garnish your wages or bank accounts and levy on other property. And they can repossess the car at any point. You may want to discuss this with a bankruptcy lawyer to go over your options.
