Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

petty theft -- juvenile

Can you move out of Virginia when you are charged but not yet sentenced of petty theft as a juvenile? I have a 15 y-o that stole a video game from another child, but then returned it. The victims mother reported it to the police 2 months later. My child was not arrested but we now have to complete a social history & return for sentencing in Oct. which I don't really want to do. I had plans to move to another state by the end of Aug & now don't think I can. What should I do?

Re: petty theft -- juvenile

Better wait for the matter to be settled in the J&DRDC in October before exiting the Commonwealth with your juvenile offender.
