seeking time frame

my friend angela c. was arrested for grand larceny in fairfax, va. oct.10th is her court date.shes been in there approx. 2 weeks.bond set at

$5000. her first offense.was wondering what possible time she is looking maybe to get?i hear 1yr& 6months or another friend said several years she might get. thank you in advance

Section 18.2-95 of the Virginia Criminal Code defines the crime of grand larceny and specifies the possible punishment as follows: one year up to 20 years in the penitentiary or, in the discretion of the judge or jury to which the case is tried, up to 12 months in the local jail and/or a fine of up to $2500.

What the defendant actually receives will largely depend upon what the Virginia Sentencing Guidelines recommend, taking into consideration the relevant factors which may apply to Angela's case, including the fact that she's a first time offender.
