How to get Power of Attorney over Menatally ill Mother.

My Mother is menatally ill and she has my brother her Power of Attorney, who is also on medication for a mental disorder. How do I take over for her, he is taking her for everything she has and she seems a bit scared to do anything about it. Please help.

Go to the local department of social services for your city or county and ask to speak to an adult protective services worker. If you mother is being financially exploited, the department can intervene on her behalf, and even get the power of attorney suspended, and a guardian appointed for her.

You also have the right to request the circuit court to do this, but you will almost certainly need to hire a lawyer to assist you in the process.
