Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I have a 2 year old daughter, her biological father knew of her birth, didn't come and sign here birth certificate he wanted me to terminate my pregnancy we had no contact the whole time he now wants to see her on occasion, she has a father who loves her whom she calls Daddy. What are my rights?

As of now, you have the right to refuse this putative father his request

to have visitation with his alleged daughter, but he also has the

right to petition the J&DR; court to have a paternity test ordered, and,

depending upon the results of such test, to have the court order

such visitation.

Nevertheless, in the meantime, you and your husband may wish to arrange for a consultation with a local attorney who handles adoption matters to explore the feasibility of your husband doing a stepparent adoption which would necessarily include the termination of all of the biological father's parental rights.
