Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Father, first hearing, near settlement, self rep

I am representing myself. I have the first hearing tommorow at 3pm e.s.t. The question: I have emails that the other party sent me, these emails include death threats, threats to alienate my daughter from me and threats against my current girlfriend. Is this admissable and if it is how do I verify the information?

Hearing for what? Representing yourself in what kind of matter? You sound in great need of competent counsel who can put your case on the right track(as well as answer questions regarding admissibility of evidence).

Trying to handle matters on your own is not likely to get you where you want to go.

For someone who has decided to be his own lawyer, you haven't prepared very well. For example, you haven't subpoenaed the records of the email sender's ISP, so the other party will simply deny they sent the emails, and poof, no foundation for admitting the emails in evidence. Your word against hers.

If I were you, I would spend from 8 AM - 2:59 PM tomorrow in the courthouse law library reading the rules of evidence -- or on the phone, calling lawyers.
