Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I have a relative who wants to know her rights as a wife. She and the husband have two kids but have never officially divorced. They have not lived together in 20 years. If something were to happen to him, what legal rights would she have? She lives in Maryland and he lives in Virginia. He never paid child support. Is she entitled to any child support or alimony? Thanks.

Unless there was a valid order for child support and/or alimony already in effect

before the husband died, the wife would not be entitled to sue and collect from this

decedent's estate for any amounts which remained unpaid under these

orders.
