Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Can a spouse be taken to court in order to have him help pay household finances? He's only paying the cable bill leaving the rest of the bills on me to be paid.

What would be the legal basis or theory for such a particular action? ( I personally am

not aware of any under Virginia law absent the existence of a specified contract requiring such payments from the one spouse to the other. Perhaps, in a community property state such as California, where spouses typically share all marital assets as well as debts, there might be a sustainable claim for such an action but in a state like the Commonwealth which is not a community property jurisdiction, I would doubt it.)
