Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia

car accident on private property in virginia

Thank you in advance for the assistance-

I was in--name removed--car accident on private property --name removed--shopping center) in Virginia. It is my understanding that each accident participants insurance will cover the damage incurred in the accident irregardless of who was at fault. Is this correct?

Unfortunately, I was backing up as another car raced behind me. I struck the rear quarter panel of the vehicle. My truck received little damage but the car incurred $1800 worth (supposedly). I would prefer to not have to notify my insurance company-

What are my options?

Thanks again-

Re: car accident on private property in virginia

If your negligent actions caused the damage to the other vehicle, you could simply pay out of your pocket for the cost of repairing it without reporting it to or involving your insurance carrier with the matter.

The driver whose vehicle was damaged will not expect his carrier to pay for damage which was caused by you. He will expect either you or your insurance company to pay for this damage.
