Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

If you've entered into a contract with someone, can their behavior terminate the contract?

In this instance, holding a third parties check ransom for work already done, who did not sign a contract?

Yes, if this someone's behaviour materially violates the terms of this contract. However, in my view, whatever this someone may be doing (or not) with respect to a third person who is not a party to this contract and who is totally unrelated to any of its terms should be irrelevant to the issue of the contract's continued validity.
