Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I called Legal Aid and they did not tell me to ask for a Bill of Particulars, which I found out after my initial court appearance that I should have asked for. I intend to add this into my document. I have a continuance until July 10th, which is the latest the landlord would agree to, and that was reluctantly. But I'd like more time yet still, if possible. I plan to explain the circumstances and proposed solutions. I'd appreciate an opportunity to chat with a lawyer before I submit it and Legal Aid is booked.
