Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

hellO! am in middle of personal injury case (we were at point of settling). I had a lawyer and was at point of settling when the emotional trauma of event kicked in and I became unable to do just about anything anymore. Lawyer was not empathetic (and in my opinion just not even kind either) and I became unable to talk with him. he removed himself from the case and I have been trying to heal self emotionally, etc. Meanwhile the other side is pressuring me to settle NOW. NOW NOW. The pressure is about to make me feel like Snapping! it is too much to bear!!

I am trying to get the help I need to heal emotionally, etc -- THEN I can go out and find another counsel and also get the rest of the physical medical information (treatments, etc) I need to be able to settle.

THe pressure from the other side is so strong on me that it makes me feel sometimes, often, like just throwing in the towel, so to speak...

but that seems silly (with having been so close to settling) -- and also I have lg medical bills (and no insurance) .

Is there any way to put a case like this on hold?

I need to be able to heal emotionally first before I can even go out and find another counsel or be forced into some kind of settlement!!!! I am not able at the moment to leave the house!!

I really really for my personal sanity and well-being need to find a way to put this case on hold -- but I even find it extremely difficult (Everest...) to go trying to find a lawyer to take the case, etc. (I also fear he/she may be like the laast one, so un-sympathetic and ugh... OI shudder. ugh.)

Honestly I don't like the whole legal process and would actually, i think feel much better being free and able to pursue my own healing on my own accord.... but it is a lot of money I owe the hospital, etc. And, so here I am in this case.

How can such a case be 'put on hold' (what is legal term for that?)

I really need to do that at least, in some way?

Thank you for any help.

Better see if you can find another lawyer as given your apparent current mental

and emotional state, it is unlikely that you'll be in any position to achieve anything meaningful for your legal situation, including "putting the case on hold", by attempting to represent yourself. Furthermore, what you appparently have in mind is having the court suspend the entire matter for an indetermnate period

which would be very unlikely and the most that you would likely be granted is

a reasonable continuance to allow your new counsel to "get up to speed", so

to speak, on matters involving your case.
